BenQ HT2050A 1080P Home Theater Projector Black Friday Deals 2020
Today I’m going to be a review setup and demonstration of this great for the projector I’ll be going over most of the features and accessories you get with this projector as well as overall costs of owning a projector and give you a few ideas on how to cut those costs depend qht 2058

this model has a brightness of 2200 luminance contrast 15,000 won and a very low input lag of sixteen point six seven milliseconds half that of the previous model plus BenQ is now giving you a three year warranty all the ports are on the back side giving you two HDMI inputs two different USB ports to power their small devices like a fire TV or Roku PC Vega out component and RCA input connections also axillary in and out which is kind of cool you can directly connect headphones the 2058 has a few buttons on the top you basically have everything you need to access any feature through the menu behind this door is how you’re gonna set your focus and throw distance there’s also a lens shift feature which will give you a little bit more flexibility when setting up your projector I’ll show you how that process works and get a little more in depth with that a little later the twenty fifty AE is very well ventilated I live in a hotter climate and I’ve the previous version of this model regularly I would use it in 100 degree weather never once did it overheat it’s currently winter out here so I can’t really test if it’ll hold up as well but I’m pretty sure it’ll be no different this has a 10 watt speaker which is fine and I’ll demo that for you later but I’m guessing you’re getting a projector because you want that theater like experience for that you’re gonna need a receiver and with all the different receivers I’ve ever owned what I found out is when you buy a quality one it lasts a very long time I’m currently using three that are around ten years old two there is some wear and tear but the sound quality is excellent on all of them all the models are higher in specs two of them being this particular model you can also get a sound bar or just use mad phones the underside has three mounting holes if you’re looking to put this on a wall or ceiling mounting is a pretty easy process but you should take some time to find the most optimal location for the projector this way you’ll only do it once the HT 2058 has three adjustable legs which is great for portability you could use it in a classroom boardroom instead of mounting maybe put it on a shelf or even have a movie night out in the backyard the accessories are pretty slim and basic if you don’t have a disc drive you can download the manual from the BenQ website I really like this remote here’s what the buttons have a very nice clicky tactile feel to them and when you press one of them the whole thing lights up which is obviously very useful in a theater room not to mention it’s very light but what I really like about this remote is that it has nine buttons at the bottom each one corresponding to a different element of picture quality your sharpness brightness contrast gamma color what-have-you with a simple button press you can change the desired elements of your picture quality with ease a fantastic choice thank you now I’ve chosen to mount my projector hanging from about two feet down of the ceiling this is the same mount I’ve used for my other BenQ projectors it’s pretty much the most optimal position for this room your setup and room might be different than mine once you get the projector in the desired location you’re ready to set up the image in the menu the fifth tab over for down is the option for a test pattern which is going to be great for setting up your throw distance once you get the relative size of the image you want you’re gonna want to focus the picture plus you may need to move the protector around slightly to get everything squared up when you get that image close to what you’re looking for you want to do minimal adjustments between me focus and throw distance until you get the picture in the right size alignment and sharpness that you desire at that point you may also have to use the lens shift feature to move the image up or down slightly using text like the menu is going to be very useful in getting the image as sharp as possible BenQ does provide a set-up guide that will help you with the distancing and placement of the projector if you’ve never done this before the process is really not that hard the most important thing is where and how you mount the projector if that’s in the right spot the other stuff is easy now I’d like to talk about the screen for just a little bit my screen size is just over 9 feet about 110 inches the 2058 has a very short throw distance at just 8.2 feet back you get a hundred inch image I would have initially made my screen bigger if this speaker wasn’t in the way I’ll probably end up moving the speaker and making the screen bigger once I upgrade to a 4k projector but that’s not in my at the moment let me give you an idea on how cheap you can make a screen for I’ve had this screen up now for a few years I bought it for 50 it’s currently 55 I simply stapled this screen to the wall set up the image where I wanted it outlined it with this particular friction tape because it absorb the light really well and that’s exactly what I was looking for plus it’s cheap $3 a piece at Home Depot I don’t remember how many I used maybe two I put a few of these strong metal pushpins in the corners and a few other spots for pushpins these are actually pretty good quality and strong you might need to paint the wall but with that you’re still well under $100 for everything needed for a little bit more immersion few years later I ended up painting the walls black it really helps the image pop out I use some speaker grille cloth to hide a few things pretty much all my smaller components are on this wall all of the wiring I’ve never worried about anything overheating back here because speaker grill cloth allows air to flow through easily I even put some on the ceiling when watching a film there’s no distractions it’s fantastic all the darkness creates a very immersive experience for the colors are gorgeous not a super vibrant look but more of a natural low-key accurate color palette contrast is really nice easily going from bright highlights into darker shadows with little effort for the most part these picture settings are stock right out of the box I didn’t change the color brightness or contrast I did change some other settings and I’ll get into that a little bit later on which settings I like best with the gamma setting being the one I change most often the image quality is really sharp and clear especially if you’re watching films at 24 Hertz or 24 frames per second which is how you should be watching them anyway overall really hard to be for range if you’re looking to get a projector for the first time one thing you should know was they do have some fan noise this particular BenQ model is really quiet I usually sit right below it and with the receiver on you can hardly hear the noise at all I’m trying to accurately recreate the sound for you for a reference point this is me clapping at the same distance from the mic as the fan projector speaker full volume yes you learn about me that’s not a foundation of their friendships I’ve paced music is loud and clean dialogue clear and discernible even action is okay the speaker by no means will blow you away before what it is it works fine even in daylight you can still clearly see the image this is a dark scene with vibrant colors and all details are still here now obviously this will not be the case if the light was pointed directly at the screen but this will give you an idea on how you can light your room to still be able to see the picture clearly and accurately because this BenQ model still does put out a bright enough picture for daytime viewing as long as your light source is not directly hitting the screen you don’t want your window and direct view of the projector screen if that’s your only choice look at getting blackout curtains or roller shades for me black levels are really important I’m mostly viewing this projector at night and the levels here are not perfect but they are very good for the don’t expect an LED level of darkness here but I think you will be happy with what you can get out of this projector I like the brightness right at 50 go up to high and the black start getting gray to low the bright spot
s lose detail you may have noticed stuttering or some motion blur on some of the images projected here the 2058 actually has a very smooth clean image but in order for me to show these images through my camera I had to slow the shutter speed and in some cases change the frame rate on the picture lower than I normally ever would if I didn’t your image would look more like this all these crazy lines flickering and whatnot but the projectors image is a very nice smooth one in fact it’s really good for gaming in that sense if I’m watching the projector during the day I change the light mode to normal at night economic there’s a fairly significant difference there and it’s just about the right amount for day and light in my situation if you cannot perfectly line up your projector there is a Keystone option this will transform your image left or right up and down the previous model only went up and down also you may need to orient your screen I have the projector set up in a front ceiling position yours may be different both of these settings can be changed in the menu but they will also be prompted the first time you turn the projector on for picture mode I pretty much always use cinema occasionally I’ll switch it to user contrast color in tint I leave flat at 50 the sharpness I bump up to 15 I like a very sharp clear image color temperature most of the time warm but if it’s like sports or something I might switch it to cool cool will give you more bright white colors whereas warm gives you more of the film look under the Advanced tab you have your gamma which I’m constantly changing depending on the film or video I’m watching you should leave somewhere between two point two and two point six sometimes higher sometimes lower it’s kind of a good way of getting your black levels right depending on the source and don’t think that you have to constantly change the settings you can easily find something that’s baseline that’ll basically work in any situation I’m just weird I’ve always changed constantly my picture settings on every TV and projector I’ve ever owned I’m always trying to get the most out of the image in every situation there’s fine tune and color management options to give you even more adjustments in your color palette I prefer noise reduction off under the display options you have the ability to change your wall color but I’ve been using lately is light green it seems to work well and giving me accurate colors all this is just give you an idea of what you can change what you can do with your own settings these might not work for your setup your lighting your screen material and what you even just desire in an image may differ from me so adjusting these playing around see what you like is what’s gonna give you the best image for you I think the BenQ 2050 a is absolutely worth.
