Fitbit Versa Smart Watch Black Friday Deals 2021
Fitbit may be best known for its simple activity trackers but the new Fitbit Versa is a whole lot more than a bracelet that can count your steps press it is a full-fledged SmartWatch and I’ve been using it for over a week now to find out if it’s any good so here are several things about it
I really liked first of all the Fitbit Versa is very light and very thin which makes it super comfortable I’ve been wearing it all day every day and on several occasions I left it on me overnight to track my sleep oh and it’s waterproof down to 50 meters so you can even swim with it the touchscreen display is also great mostly because it delivers beautiful colors and has excellent outdoor visibility unfortunately this is an LCD display it’s not an outlet so you don’t have the always-on display functionality that you get with other watches the only time that you are allowed to have the screen always-on is when you’re exercising the Fitbit Versa isn’t exactly beautiful or elegant in any way especially if you get the boring black model like I did but the good thing is that it also comes in silver or rose gold and if you want to you can replace the sporty rubber bands with leather or metal ones Fitbit has a bunch of them available on its website what you see here is fitbit’s own proprietary software running on the Versa and it’s compatible with both the iPhone and Android phones overall the interface is simple to use and easy to get the hang of but it gets choppy from time to time I wouldn’t call this annoying but the interface is far from perfectly smooth you can navigate your way using the touchscreen a swipe to the side for example reveals the apps that you have installed and if you swipe up you get the screen displaying your daily activity stats you also have three physical buttons on the sides and these come in handy when you need to interact with the watch during exercises when your fingers are all wet and sweaty even though the fitbit Versa is a SmartWatch it doesn’t have access to virtual assistants and it doesn’t support LTE connected you can make contactless payments but only on the special edition of the Versa which has NFC and costs other limitations includes the small catalog of applications there is only about 130 of them the selection of watch faces doesn’t impress either many of them are just not very good-looking you get the notifications from your phone straight to your versa and you’re notified with a light but easy to feel vibration too bad that you cannot response to instant messages in any way I have to mention that I had to deal with bugs more than once throughout my testing things like unresponsive screens notifications not coming through or apps and watch faces not wanting to install it was nothing that I couldn’t fix eventually but it was annoying nonetheless when it comes to fitness and activity tracking there is a lot to like about the Fitbit Versa it monitors your heartrate 24/7 it counts the steps you make and the floors that you climb and if you’ve been sitting for too long it will remind you to stand up for a stretch if you are okay with wearing the watch to bed it will automatically log your sleep and present you with a breakdown in the morning and if you are trying to lose weight it can help you with tracking the calories that you consume throughout the day unfortunately the Versa doesn’t have its own GPS so if you want accurate tracking while running or cycling you will have to have your phone on you as well there are many types of activities that you can log with the Versa from running and swimming to yoga and martial arts it can automatically detect activities including longer walks and then it locks them as an exercise but you don’t have presets for sports like basketball or soccer once you’re done with the exercise you are given a breakdown of your activity how many calories you’ve burned the distance you’ve covered and the heart rate zones that you spend time in overall the great thing about the Fitbit Versa and its software is that it doesn’t just give you a raw data it actually helps you make sense of it for example it can tell you how your cardio fitness level compares to that of other people your age and whether your sleep patterns are within the normal ranges something neat about the Fitbit Versa is that it can store several hundred songs on its built-in memory this way you can playback music through a pair of bluetooth headphones unfortunately the only two music streaming services that are supported are Deezer and Pandora and you do need a paid account to use this feature but you can also copy mp3 files directly if you still have any and finally battery life with the Versa has been great the watch lasts about three to four days on average which is three to four times longer than an Apple watch this proprietary charging cradle may be large and bulky but its clip design lets you do things like charging the watch from a power bank on your way to the gym in conclusion the fitbit Versa gets a lot of things right it is comfortable to wear it has a long lasting battery and it has a user friendly approach to fitness and activity tracking but for a SmartWatch it isn’t all that smart and the software experience is still a rough around the edges so if what you want is a reasonably fitness companion with some essential SmartWatch features built in then the Versa could be a great choice thanks for watching guys go check
