Signature Sleep 10 Inch Coil Mattress Black Friday Deals 2020
Today I’m going to be doing a review of this mattress right here which came in this box the signature sleep contour mattress now the full name is the signature sleep contour eight-inch reversible independently encased coil mattress whoo that’s a mouthful and this particular one is a queen size before I dive into the details if you liked this video and other videos of mine
I would really appreciate it if you would subscribe to my channel that’ll help me reach my goal of being able to clear a thousand subscribers and produce more videos like this one and I can use some of that revenue to buy more mattresses and do more reviews well let’s get started I slept on this mattress for three full nights and then in addition to that I’ve taken several naps on it as well so initial impressions surprisingly I liked it I didn’t think I would for a sub mattress that I bought on Amazon now there are two really big caveats with that statement and I’ll get to those in just a few moments but while I’m giving you some more details I’ll test the motion transfer and some other things so bear with me just a moment while I move the box all right and here we have the sledgehammer of discernment which I’ll use to show you a little bit about it in terms of bounce one thing you’ll probably notice right away it’s a very bouncy mattress and that kind of makes sense because it’s a hybrid mattress in fact being a little more specific it’s a hybrid mattress that has one and a half inches of foam on both sides which is what makes it reversible and it has independently encase coils in the middle I did measure it by the way off I did measure it off camera by the way it is eight inches thick but the big drawback the number one big drawback is the motion transfer I’ve got some books over there let’s see if they jiggle when I dropped this yeah there’s quite a bit of jiggling here in fact I’m not going to do it right now but I bet if I just let this sledgehammer go full blast eventually those books would fall down so I can’t really recommend this mattress for someone that is a couple for two people sleeping on the same mattress because the motion transfer to put it bluntly is really bad the three nights I try to now my wife and I didn’t both sleep on it I just left on it by myself because we laid on it for a while together and I could feel every single move she was making she could feel every single move I was making having said that I still really liked it I think there are some redeeming qualities yes you can see the bowling ball I just drop it chest high it’s getting air so like I said this mattress has quite a bit of bounce to it if you’re a person that likes a more traditional memory foam feel you’re not going to get it with this mattress because it’s just the way that it’s designed there’s lots of other hybrids like wallah Sapiro others that I haven’t necessarily tried that our hybrids but don’t have nearly as much motion transfer because they have much more of a thick comfort layer out of transition layer so I mean what do you expect in terms of you know balance and those kind of things let’s see if I get the books to go here yeah they’re they all fell over so um big drawback number one is motion transfer I can’t recommend this for couples that are both gonna be sharing the same bed having said that while I slept on it by myself it did feel pretty good actually I had that hybrid feel I was a little concerned that there’s only an inch and a half of comfort layer on each side but felt fine didn’t really bother me let’s take a closer look at some different positions and I’ll go over a few more details with you okay so now a couple different views of the mattress as I lay on it I’ll lay on my back to get started this is my preferred sleeping position and on this mattress it’s my preferred sleeping position this mattress is probably best for back sleepers although I’d say it’s pretty good for side sleepers – there’s no gapping here there’s good conformity the conformity is local to where my body is laying but not global it doesn’t pull down the entire mattress so it has a firm feeling but without being too firm on a scale of 1 to 10 where one is soft 10 is most firm I would put this right around that 6 to 7 range which is kind of ideal suitable to most people if I turn on to my side I feel fine in this this position as well my hips are sinking down but not too much and my shoulders are sinking in but not too much and the pressure point relief is okay it’s not like super amazing pressure point relief but if you grew up on an inner spring mattress and you kind of still like that you can’t quite get used to memory foam you’ll really like this mattress at least at first and let me clarify when I say at least at first this brings us to the second big drawback to this mattress it has a one-year warranty and a one-year warranty is not very good in the mattress industry the average is about 10 years at first I thought to myself well might as well not even have any warranty at all because let’s be honest if you buy this or so and you don’t like it after three or four months are you really gonna go to the hassle of returning it you know well the return policy is only thirty days anyway I guess it would protect you from the really bad stuff like if a spring pokes out or something but most mattresses you don’t notice degeneration until after a year anyway my wife and I had a mattress similar to this one a long time ago and it lasted about two years and that started going downhill same thing I had a one-year warranty so good fit like if you’re college student you need to take this to college with you or it’s a temporary living solution or a guestroom or it’s not going to be used very much but if you or you and your spouse are planning on sleeping on this mattress every night for five or six years it’s it’s not going to be a good choice I have I have some strong concerns with the thinness of the comfort layers which feel fine right now having only owned it for a couple weeks feels fine I have some concerns about how it would hold up over the course of two years three years etc quick view of my side view from the rear just to help you know what it feels like well not not that you can know what it feels like but at least looking at me can give you a couple impressions of what it might be like for reference I weigh in the neighborhood of 200 pounds and just a couple quick views of me pushing down on the mattress here there is instant responsiveness there is this kind of strips of comfort layer it’s not really tufted but slightly tufted again not a memory foam type feel at all but it does have a little bit of a cushy comfort layer well let’s take a peek at the edge support and then I’ll give you my final impressions as for edge support because it has Springs in it there is some but not a ton it’s also only 8 inches thick when I sit here on the edge with my tush back aways I seek down about 3 inches if I get more to the extreme edge I’ll sink down about 5 inches if I sit right on the corner I have a complete and total collapse for me at least I’m sinking down I think the springs are totally compressed I guess in a way that’s a good thing that I’m not gonna fall out because I’ve sucked down too far and I can feel the metal platform bed underneath it so if you need strong edge support to keep you up high like if it’s an elderly person using it or someone with a disability this is probably not going to be a good choice just to put a ribbon on things and give you my final impressions here a few pieces of info this mattress sells on Amazon for somewhere between 200 and when I bought it it was closer the 200 sized side but I’ve seen that fluctuate a lot can and do change frequently so keep an eye out it has a one-year warranty like I said earlier which isn’t going to do you a whole ton of good but then again it’s not a very expensive mattress so what do you expect in terms of the smell there was just a very small amount of odor when I unboxed it but not a lot and it had fully dissipated within a day to a day and a half so unless you’re hypersensitive I think you’ll be fine with this in terms of smell so overall impression of the mattress again summary not for couples because the motion transfer is really bad but for an occasional use mattress by like a guest room or a solo sleeper so I’m on the sleeps all by themselves I think you’re going to like it and be okay with it if you like that more hybrid / innerspring type of feeling but as long as you understand those l
imitations the warranty limit and the motion transfer problem yes I can recommend this and in fact I would even say it’s a fairly good mattress also note that the mattress is made in China.
